Two tagged coots seen this afternoon on the lake - 16W and \32W- both by the inlet at the S end. 1950 Jan 7 Univ. Calif. Campus, Alameda Co., Calif. - The fifteen coots from which wings, legs, etc were obtained on December 20, 1949, were collected by Archie Mosseman, near Rio Vista, Solano Co., Calif. December 19, 1949. Cloacas, syrinx and gonads saved on birds 1 to 5, also on birds 1-5, gall bladders and spleens were examined. Spleen normal on all birds, gall bladder in length: 31 mm on 1, 27 mm on 2, punctured on 3, 27 mm on 4, 19 mm on 5. Bird 4 had the left wing missing, with only a stub of the humerus remaining; looked like a 2 or 3 month old wound, end of bone ragged, perhaps shot off, probably not a developmental deficiency. - Two birds died 12-28-49, and one, Jan 3, [illegible], 1950, of 4 infected with malaria.
