Centre Costa Del Calf. occurred some madding (once), she "cackled" and swam about in front of the other bird, [illegible] him, then he half chased her half drove her into the cat-tails at C12 from F15 - late low noises were heard in this area, and the tagged bird was ignored so it fled at D12 to D17 to G-17. I'd like to know where the other two tagged birds are. I doubt that they left the lake of their own volition. Dec 21 Golden Gate Park San Francisco, Calif - Bird B|4G seen on west end of Stow Lake, bird B|TR seen on N side feeding among gulls, between bridge and boathouse. Territory behaviour much in evidence. The third bird B|PB, was seen between the small island on the east side of the island in Stow Lake, the area where they were originally released. Dec 23 Lake Temescal 420 ft. Alameda Co., Calif - Three tagged birds, B|4H, W|B|R, G responded quickly to some food thrown out, along with about 18 other coots & 3 mallards, little later G came in too. The food was thrown out in the territory of the pair by the gas house, with the result that battles ensued, the male & female notes being given by the defending pair. V|A9 was feeding a mouth of E inlet with two other coots. Food thrown out at 034. V|A9 soon joined the other coots there. At 3 p.m.
