WG- replaced by RG- no light tips on breast or crissum, and very few on belly. bill adult. wing P, bursa 10 mm, weight 520 grams. W/BL - some few light tipped feathers on belly, no light tipped feathers on crissum, bill immature, legs yellow- green, under wing coverts M2- bursa 26 mm. weight 548 grams. Lake Temescal, 420 ft. Alameda Co., Calif. - 5 birds tagged Q, BW, VW, RG, W/BL, of known sex released in the bay at the E end of the dam at 2:45 p.m. Today. Each bird was attached as it was released by the pair holding territory there. All but VW were able to escape okay but VW being bloated was no able to dive and took somewhat of a beating. BW/R, W/BL promptly moved over to area F25, where they fed awhile, Q, was at I33 and VW at D37(?). Quite a gang of coots were feeding at Q 20 when I came down, as they were scared out into the water, the birds at F25 came across immediately, to join the flock. In this flock were VQ + BW The 3 newcomers came into the flock at 3 p.m. without any show of formality, antagonism or any other behavior.
