Fulica Americana 143 Nov 19 Lake Temescal, 720 ft., Alameda Co., Calif. All four of the tagged coots released here last night are present today, and mixing with the other flocks. They show no sign a irritation nor do any of the other coots show any aggressive tendencies towards these newcomers. The four tagged birds are feeding at widely separated parts of the lake, each with a different flock of waterfowl. They show no sign of being strangers on this lake. There is a dead coot on the shore near the east side inlet. The lake is about ten feet below the full level. - Aquatic Park, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. 3 of the four red series birds released here last night have been seen - they are 4/5, 1/5, & 2/7. R/5 was seen moulting with another untagged bird. Nov 23 Univ. Calif. Campus, Alameda Co., Calif. P. when killed today weighed 423 grms. Also it eliminated a considerable quantity of green fecal material which looks okay. Head to end of mid too - 134 mm. This bird, a male, had its left thoracic air sac pretty well loaded with a mold, identified by Dr. Emerson of the Botany Department as an Aspergillus. No is going to culture the mold to determine its exact nature. A portion of this air - see page 165 -
