Eulca Mexicana -117- 31 Jewel Lake, Contra Costa Co., Calif. Note, (4/18) - when I got back to the car Y and B's were feeding + preening at B7. The base of the bill on B's looks as tho it has adult ivory, even the shield looks good - but the tip, and around the nases - is still mottled gray - Y has the mottled gray bill - is still some distance behind B's in plumage development. 91 same locality - 5:55 p.m. C/E seems to have lost all the light gray flecking on its head - it now seems to have a solid medium gray head plumage - also noticed what looks like the beginning of a dark plumage, creeping up the middle of its breast. 93 same locality - 4:35 p.m. B and 2 ymg feeding at L25 - both young white headed and surely large enough to tag and band. B/E & C/E feeding and preening at F5. 4:52 - at the moment 3 yng and B are feeding in area J-K-20 - 1 yng is small, black headed & black breasted but apparently with a feathered pate - The other 2 yng both are white - breasted-white headed and quite large. One of the larger white headed birds tho doesn't seem to have much light on top of head and I suspect it is the bird formerly called wh-bx, bl-headed. I have not seen for two a fourth young in the few minutes live been here nor had I seen S yet, who likely has the missing yng with him.
