Just after S cleaned out the imm costs from the S pond - 10 mallards moved out from D5 across to H 4 and S was moving from G 4 around to I 5 - there was no threat, not even a "putk" on the part of S. So the mallards moved around the imm costs came out of cover to feed and went about and on the log at G 5. Now 1:30 S/R ran down the log, flapping flapping wings and off to the end. a wh-ld flyng feeding bet F9 has just a pencil line of black on its breast - R/S is a sleek looking bird - quite adult looking except for the darker bill and the dark gray instead of black head. - now for some reason, not visible - all the imm flew or splattered to F 9 + 10 - R/B & G at least both flew - and so did - I think - 1 more (R/S ?). - Y is certainly not present on the lake now. 1:43 - S just came over from G/S and chased all the imm back to the S end. The black-hd wh-ld-seed bird turned up at F 10 - loudly "whewring" while S was engaged in chasing imm. - a white hd flyng joined the dark one and together both "whewring" they swam out to D9 to meet S. S fed or billed the white hd flyng first and then specked the blacked hd flyng 3 times - both flyng followed S from F-9 to C 7 - S catching insects all the way across and giving them to wh-hd but pecking black-head at every chance.
