Calif. willow there. 12:01- all the imm are out of sight- 12:03- G/S is moving north along H 12 alone. 12:05 G/B + P/B are feeding side by side at H12.6 while G/S circles, then several feet out in the water. 12:09 - S is at L 23 - P/B is at G/10 moc- G/S who just got itself badly hooked with its head under water- the tags hooked onto something or other - but the bird got free. 12:11- G/S, P/B, G/B and R/B are all feeding close together at G/10.16,17,24-25.-12:16- X is feeding at F9, G/S at E9, P/B at E10 and G/B is preening on the floating cat-tail at G/10. 12:18 G/B just splattered across into the cat-tails at C 11 - P/B is on the alert- and I can hear a "whew" in the cat- tails at H 10s-11. 12:20 G/B again ran down and captured a dragonfly at D/10 At 12:55 S came down from the N area chasing the birds S to at East F7. - he quickly went to work clearing out all the birds in G-8 - pushing them to G-H 5. At 1:05 a young is "whewing" at H8 and S is moving S from G/10 towards that position. - emerging at G 8 with the young in tow. - Leopold & Pitelka were with me from 12:20 to 1:45 pm.- so not many records. - at 1:50 S w/1 young is at G/10- now he is cleaning the imm out of area F9- 4 imm G/B, P/B R/S & S/R were feeding at F9.11 until S drove them out at 1:52 - at 1:53 they came at F7 and he chased them again.
