July 19 Jewel Lake, Tilden Park, Contra Costa Co. Calif. P/B is now feeding (12:29) at T24. S at M20 + B disappeared at H15. Now(12:30) a single young w/white body plumes is moving E at J29- on the edge of the cat- tails. 12:32- B w/1 yng is moving W at J19- at the W end of the boat she turned, "poonked"several times and started charging P/B (at I22) - P/B started splattering and B followed splattering, B finally, alighting at D15- The yng w/B joined S, or at least close by, it is now at L20. 25 "whewing". S w/! dark bodied young is at L20. 7, feeding. (12:36) B is beside the boat and the yng that was with her is crossing to her, "whewing"at 2 second intervals, and has now joined her. Now (12:39) all is quite - S is just climbing on a floating object at M20. 23- went on and off th the other side leaving its yng there, B (12:40) is moving N with a pale head plumed yng at L23-staying close into shore. S at 12:41 id up on the boat at M20 again stood still for about 15 sec, crossed and into the water- to feed at M20. 22- the yng is still lying down. B is at L25.21 the yng being right beside her. Yng at M20 is now standing and preening while S feeds nearby. B w/1 yng has gone to cover at N26.26. 12:46 the yng at M20 is in the water
