Fulica americana -70- July 16 Jewell Lake, Tilden Park, Contra Costa Co., Calif. At 9:30a.m. Y, R|G, R|S, R, G/B, F, are all feeding K-L 25-27. Haven't seen either of the S adults for several days nor a few other tagged birds - I expect they have left the lake for less disturbed areas. July 19 - same locality - At 10:10a.m. when I arrived at the lake about six birds were resting at E-4, 19 - they were R/S, R|S, R|S, G/P, S|S and R|S. After my arrival they moved - some by flying - to E-G 11-12. In that area also were Y+G. Some moved into the cat-tails on the E side of the lake, but most of them went into the cover at H/12 - where they are now feeding. Right now 10:20, G/B, R|S, B/P are working along the edge of cover, feeding on pond weed - they moved up about as far as H/15 - when they turned south and started moving fast - just then B came splattering across and they all splattered to F+G 11. - B stopped at G/3 and churned once - also
