Immatues gathered around the injured bird, it seemed to be bleeding at the mouth but can wiggle its tail and move its wings. Don't know where it was hit- sure hope it pulls out okay. At the moment G, 0/5, R, R15, and one unmarked bird are feeding at F+G-8. A moment ago the unmarked bird made a pass at the tag on R15 but was unable to get close enough to touch them. The unmarked adult from the S end has been seen this afternoon too. About 4 p.m. The N♀ was with 4 young at 526 and then about 4:20 p.m. The N♀ was chasing all of the immatues out of the area at G15-16+17. A moment later 4 young appeared there and then slowly drifted northwest towards the island from the boat. Those two flying immatures that are unmarked have been the leaders in that N brood- probably the oldest- and consistently do the first to fly when alerted- by 5:05 p.m. The injured bird was dead. It is one of the two smallest birds in the S brood, I'm sure sorry to lose it. Guess I'd better skin it out. As I worked over to get it, all the birds previously feeding in that area worked down the cat-tails on the west side and onto the open water
