Fulica americana July 8 Devil Lake Wilder Park Contra Costa Calif. tip of bill ivory, otherwise plumage much as preceding bird. - During the course of trapping today I picked up R/S of the N wood at 1/3 and found what appears to be another brood nest (of 5 pair?) about 1/5 - also someplace in that area saw what looked like the beginning of another nest. - There should be at most of unmarked birds on the lake / adult + immature from the S area and two immatures from the N area. R/S and G/S both got into its trap without cooping, they were found in the trap when the S/d.- 1/5 - was driven in. - While the eye on G/S was reddish it still had a flocked appearance and was still not the clear red of the adult. B/S + G/B both flew away on release. The white tips of primaries present on B/S were not found on any bird exam- ined after that. Also I noted some- things peculiar about the primary covets on that adult that I didn't note at the moment and I have since forgotten what it was - some- things about the pattern of white as I recall.
