Now NO + Q are together with new brood at G/18. July 7 same locality - During the noon hour the NO (3) and NQ (13) have been in nearly constant view as they fed & young in the bay NW of the Boat. I guess another bird was got lost during the night. Just now (12:55 pm.) something seems to be disturbing the NF and she is growling very much as she has at me on several occasions when I was catching young of this brood. I haven't heard the male give that growl - growling is quite generally accompanied by churning. Yesterday I found a brood nest in the area H/17- must check again to get exact location. 3 or 4 flying young (all of the north brood ?) seem to be confined to an area extending across the lake S of 18 and N of about 12 -elsewhere on the lake they are subject to pursuit - I have not had much luck in getting them out of this area.
