All egg shell remains were gone. It started over to side as I caught it. Too slipped R3 and weighed, 17.45gms. Young R2 also captured swimming away from the nest but not weighed. At 10:55 a.m. egg #4 with an active "in hewing" young set it but nowhere pipped thru, weighs 24.91gms. still cold in the 3 egg nest at 15.14. This nest is 6 in across the cup, which is about 2 in deep- water to rim opposite gangway is 6 mi - rim to rim from gangway is 11 in. Composed of Dry broad leaf cat-tail- level with fined cat tail shreds-gangway is poorly constructed, really more, just a place for one. Nest faces SW- open water being 3 ft away in that direction. No immediate overhead canopy, but the broad leaved cat-tails around the nest form an effective cover about 5 feet up, so the nest is really effectively concealed from above.
