Gray Lodge Refuge, Butte Co., Calif. - several birds disturbed this evening (5 p.m.) Rasied readily to 20 or 30 feet above the ground and circled around in an uneasy manner - I wonder if they are getting ready to migrate. Mar. 20. Again this morning a number of birds rose into the air, but not so many as last night. They were all on small pools in one of the burned over, dying up areas of the refuge. Flew strongly and up to some elevations.
