The shell was collected, #1 (34x53mm) is piped, #2 (35x51mm) is also piped #3 (34x55mm) is not piped both the piped ones are multiply so. The N was close by "punking". Only 5 young in the old N wood have been seen for the last two days - don't know where #6 is. These 5 young remain very close together - the N♀ was S of the island while the ♂ was concerned over the nest. July 3 - same locality - caught two young of N wood today - nails clipped -1 the rt hallux, the other the left hallux 2 clipped new R1 + L1. - egg two was well piped at 11 a.m. with the full and much of the yolk readily visible - eggs #1 & #4 are both piped about equally well-both more than doubly piped. The ♀ seems to be maintaining close company with the swimming young while the male is partly defending the nest, chasing the old N wood and responding to the "crow" challenge of the S ♂. I may be able to catch and mark one of these N parents today if I work properly. Both of the young cought today were depending upon concealment - at which they are good- rather than by diving or swimming
