Moku Manu Island (6) mean the water's surface. Brown and Red-footed Boobys were present in all stages. One Brown Booby nestling and four subadults (capable of flight) Red feet were banded. Several nests were fled, one (Red-footed according to Clapp) containing a rather fresh egg resting on a mat of picked, green vegetation. Three common Noddys were observed in the area when we arrived but these left. One hundred Wedgetail Shearwaters were banded (many all available bands). Total nesting population at this time estimated to be about 125 500 at peak individuals. Many burrows containing down and breast feathers contained no bird - these in about a 4 & 1 ratio with occupied burrows - estimated Wedgetail population at peak 500 nestlings. Six Wedgetail burrows (2 containing birds) are discovered under Booby nests which are discrete platform of sticks on low bush or on ground. One Wedgetail banded had a broken right leg at tarsus joint, causing a deformity of foot. Another Wedgetail, not banded had a broken right wing healed, giving an awkward cast to wing. This
