Moku Manu Island (6) Nov. 22, 1963 At 0900 hours we left Kaneohe bay for island. Field party consists of R. Elst, W. King, D. On, and R. Walker of Hawaiian Fish and Game. Found water much too rough for landing & so returned by way of man-made breakwater island in Kaneohe Bay. How 7 Rudely Ternstones were seen and plant samples were taken. We arrived Kaneohe pier and received news of assassination of President Kennedy. I don't feel like working anymore. Nov. 25, 1963 Arrived Moku Manu 1145 hours. Landing made on back side of main island near cave. Landing was difficult and dangerous although water was relatively calm. Field party consisted of R. Elst, W. King, D. Brotley, and R. Clapp. Frigates and Boobies were flying overhead as we landed. Final counts estimated 175 Frigates, 200 Red-footed Boobys, 50 Brown Boobys, and 1 Masked Booby. One Frigate was observed to 'play' i.e. drop repeatedly drop and catch a fish. Other frigate's were fishing
