Okt.22,1963 R.R. (2) Mokelie Island (10) Just about 20 feet from shore (see chart) the last Wedgetail was found at the end of the island where the veg. was much reduced. The white-tailed tropic birds were circling above island and left after we had been there for about 30 min. There is a possibility that they may be nesting on the cliffs of the seaward side. Nov. 21, 1963 Waded to island from farther point arriving at 1410 hours. Wedgetail shorewater because had been previously marked and 37 individuals were banded. This included 15 birds that had not been previously marked. New estimate is that this figure of 34 immature represents about 75% of total immature population. A Blakings table and a white tailed Tropic bird were seen. Blast samples were collected for identification. Left island at 1700 hours. Field party consisted of R.Blot & W.King.
