September 12 - early morning on Eastern Island recovery of two bands.
757-74278 Laysan found on Sand (banded as local by Wirtz)
757-75551 ? found on Eastern Island in road - bird remains not identified.
September 13--Loaded Bill Wirtz aboard 1400 flight to Kure with all his
lumber, and other supplies. Caught 1730 boat for Eastern. Banded RITB: 28

Local - threw up two large squid (5 inches long).
Local - threw up flying fish about 5" long (no head).
Immature - threw up large 8" flying fish.
Red-tailed Tropicbird young sometimes seen sleeping with head and
neck stretched away from body and resting on ground.
Red-tailed Tropicbird tail feathers seem to become worn at tips
in immature birds on island.
One Red-footed Booby chick in top of sea grape plant (bush),
primaries and tail in, all the rest down covered. Some all dark,
imature feathered Red-footed Booby seen. Indication of successful
breeding here.
Banded 200 Sooty Terns after dark. All birds flying, very difficult
to find unbanded birds. 793-29201 - 300
