Fleet, R. 1964--notes by species--Kure 20 Common Noddy April 5 Have noticed these birds around in small numbers for about two weeks. Today saw 24 sitting on N. P. Occasionally have seen one or two standing around on beach. April 6 1100 hours: 50 of this species on beach at dock and 16 at NP on beach. At 1300 hours saw a flock of approx. 100 individuals on beach 200 yds. S of pier. April 7 saw about 6 flocks on W beach at 1400 hours. Also group on N point and a small group on S point. Total probably around 200 birds. April 26--Sa several birds carrying nest material. May 10 egg laying began. May 30 Population approx. 700 birds. Now about 150 eggs laid on beaches, edge of runway, at crest of dunes. Few twigs and debris from nest. (Sand Is. has about 200 birds and 65 eggs). Eggs similar to S. Tern eggs in size but few pig. spots and more white ground color.
