Bonin Island Ketrel
March 19 About 2500 on island. Call is a low pitched watch-winding sound.
Easy to sex during egg laying period. Evidently high egg mortality--probably
due to rats--can find no burrows still having eggs (or chicks).
-March 24 Collected one specimen today for skeleton--d testes regressed.
Non-breeding.
June 6 All of this species gone from island by May 20-25.
