Fleet, P. 1964--notes by species--Kure 12 Wedge-tailed Shearwater March 3 Captured and banded (2) two individuals last night. First of season March 11 Banded 17 individuals last night. March 14 Can band about 50 individuals per night now. M_rch 19 Be iieve these birds have begun to dig now. March 30 Have about 40 burrows marked. Courtship in part involves billing of mated pair and moaning cry--(this may be an alarm call). Observed one pair in which one individual spread wings partially and leaned forward on feet while billing. May 30 Birds in large numbers. No eggs yet. Sooty Tern (continued) April 11 This past week these birds have been conc. over open areas of C. R. Very low to ground--10' or so. Some Common Noddies in there also.
