beginning courtship. Observed one bird flying over NAF this morning.
February 6--Observed a single bird over N end of runway--possibly a stray from
Midway.

March 3-- Three birds over NF. Hovered over me, approx. 1 st. from my outstretched

shorted.
March 10--Three individual roosting in scae. (a) NP for past 3 days.
March 11--Five individuals at N end of island
March 19--Now have 3 pair at N end of island. Very curious birds--will hover
near me for several min. at a time--almost perch on my outstretched hand.
May 25--One egg found on dead scae. branch in cut on WB. Egg slightly smaller
than S. Tern, but same coloration. Pop. approx. 20-30 birds.
Have observed at least two oth r pairs carrying fish in bill--indicating
possibility of chicks.
