August 19, 1963
Processed remaining blood samples. Obtained ectoparasites
from Common Noddy and Wedgetails.
Put twenty-five boxes together for shipping birds. Discovered
that tape the S. I. sent to be used is absolutely useless. It will
not stick and is apparently old. Chief Alexander had a stencil cut
for us on Johnston for labeling the boxes.
Obtained a blood sample (sera and frozen whole blood) from a
sick frigate chick. Its eyes were bad and its wings swelled and
bleeding.
Chief Gregosian sent another message to DTC concerning the
Mats, Scott AFB orders.
August 20, 1963
Processed blood sample collected yesterday. Obtained tape
and paint from Chief Alexander and finished taping boxes and
labeling them.
Sent message to S. I. concerning the date of arrival of our
replacements so plans for Ken to leave can be made in due time.
This message was sent during the afternoon. At 10 p.m. I received
a message from the SI (which was sent before my message left here) saying
that Ken Amerman was to arrive August 28 and McFarlane was to arrive
September 8. One part was garbled and I am not sure which Ken leaves
on September 2. I am assuming they mean Ken Wilz but there is no
