A. Feathers. Jan. 21, 1934. Gap Ranch, 500+ ft., Colorado R., 1¼ mi. A. E. Searchlight, Clark Co., Nev. (cont.) saw a pelican (Pelicanus erythrorhynchos). As we returned, Fitch killed a house wren (Troglodytes). We saw a flicker, numerous mountain bluebirds, about a dozen phainoplea, and heard quail calling. After I returned to camp, I skinned, fleshed the skunk skin, cooked dinner, and washed and wiped the dishes. Earlier in the day I shot a western robin (Turdus migratorius propinquus) on my way back to camp, after collecting all my traps below the Thomas Ranch. I had taken the car for this purpose, and shot the robin from a mesquite, as I sat in the car. Jan. 22, 1934. Colorado R., 31 mi. N., 2½ mi. W Camp Mohave, Mohave Co., Arizona. I cooked breakfast and cleaned and packed the cooking equipment. Then we all loaded the truck and departed from the Gap Ranch at about 10½ a.m. We drove to Searchlight, got our mail, wrote letters, had lunch and made ready to soon leave for the Arizona side of the Colorado R. We negotiated the crossing successfully on the suspension ferry. After we had crossed, the truck became stuck in the sand. We extricated it without unusual difficulty and continued on our way.
