Jan. 8, 1934.
14 mi. S. E. Searchlight,
Clark Co. Nevada.
600 ft., Colorado R.
The morning of Jan. 8, final purchases
were made in Needles, after which we left for
Searchlight, Nevada. Arrived there in early
afternoon and inquired for directions to
Brown's Ferry on the Colorado R. At Brown’s
Ferry we made further inquiries as to the
conditions lower down on the River.
We went to the Durkin Ranch, where
inquiries were made, and proceeded
down river thru the Upldyke Ranch to
the next ranch (deuted) where we made
camp at about 4:30 P. M. Traps were
set as dinner was being prepared. The
day was concluded with the writing
of notes and in arranging equipment
within the interior of the
old cabin we had chosen
as headquarters.
