Feather. Boys Prairie, Prairie Creek State Park, 240ft., 28. 1935. Humboldt Co., Calif. Oct. 18, 1935. I left camp at 7:00 A.M., drove south on the highway five miles to Mrs. Alice Robinson's ranch. I learned from her that she owned 11 3/4 a. on the west side of the Redwood highway. Her son, Mr. Bert Robinson, was in possession of 20 acres of hillside land west of the highway and south of Mrs. Robinson's property. They both seemed disposed to sell if offered a proper figure for their land. All of their land was tillable, they said. The Hammond Lumber Co. held 7 acres of tillable land west of the highway and north of Mrs. Robinson's land, she said. I next visited Mr. [illegible] Beugh, whose ranch is at the junction of the Yreka road and the Redwood highway, 1 mi. N Orick. He was lessee of 8 acres of Hammond L. Co. land west of the & highway at said junction 1 mi. N Orick. This was hillside land, cleared and tillable. His own land was all on the east side of the highway. Mr. Konrad told me, when I later visited him that of the farm land between his place and the coast, Lowry held 320 a., one half tillable, and Melvin held 120 a., one half tillable. Just north of Konrad's ranch was a 25 acre tract of hillside land, held by Hufford. I returned to camp.
