Feathers Boys Prairie, Prairie Creek State Park, 240 ft., 27. 1935. Humboldt Co., Calif. (cont.) Oct. 17, 1935. at camp chores. At 4:00 P.M. I interviewed Mr. Nyberg, lessee of land owned by Mr. McIntosh. Nyberg told me he had counted 125 elk while walking from Lower Gold Bluff to the mouth of Squawhan Creek. He seemed fairly certain of the truth of his assertion that there had been a number of elk of a different species from Cervus roosevelti released near here. Nyberg said he was certain that there were two "kinds" of elk here. Later, when I talked to Mr. McIntosh, he said he owned 80 acres of land west of the highway, and that 26 acres were tillable. I then returned to camp. Weather—clear. Mr. and Mrs. A.T. Orr arrived at the camp in the evening.
