Feathers 1935. Boyes Prairie, Prairie Creek State Park, 240 ft., 26. Humboldt Co., Calif. Oct. 16, 1935. With Mrs. Feathers and my daughter, Lucille, I left Berkeley at 5:00 P.M. Oct. 15 to return to Humboldt Co. and complete the elk survey initially undertaken by W. C. Russell and myself on Oct. 4, 1935. We traveled via the Richmond - San Rafael ferry and Redwood Highway to Cloverdale, where we stopped for the night at 10:00 P.M., Oct. 15. We left Cloverdale at 8:00 A.M., traveled north on the Redwood Highway and arrived at Boyes Prairie at 5:00 P.M. The Park custodian, Mr. Turner, was absent, but we were assisted in getting settled in a cabin by Mr. Frank Heath, Superintendent of CCC camp. Weather - Clear. Oct. 17, 1935. I left at 7:00 A.M., drove south to Mr. Davison's ranch and interviewed him. Of his ranch acreage, he said 111 acres were on the west side of Prairie Creek. Approx. 100 acres of this are tillable, the remainder being timbered land. Mr. Davison and I endeavored to ascertain, by his maps, the acreage of nearby ranches.
