Feathers 1935. Boyes Prairie, Prairie Creek State Park, 240 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. Oct. 4, 1935. Mr. W. C. Russell and the writer, D. G. Feathers, left Berkeley at 7:30 A.M., having as a destination the Prairie Creek State Park in Humboldt Co., Calif. The object of the trip was to make a survey of Cervus roosevelti in and about the Park and to submit a report on the present status of the elk. Travelling via Napa, St. Helena, Geyserville and the Redwood Highway, we reached the Park at 7:30 P.M. The custodian of the Park was absent, but we were directed to a cabin by another party - Oct. 5, 1935. In the morning we met Mr. J. G. Meier, Technical Expert for the E.C.W., Dept. of the Interior. In response to our questions concerning the elk, he stated that there were considerable number of them in and about the Park. He mentioned that a bull elk had been found shot on the beach near Gold Bluffs and that a hindquarter had been cut from the carcass.
