Feathers. 1934. Itinerary June 27. 2 1/2 mi. S. W. Pine Grove, 7250 ft., Mineral Co., Nevada. Left Berkeley, Calif., at 9 o'clock A.M., June 26, 1934, in three automobiles with a party of seven, as follows: J. Stanley Brode, Elton R. Edge, Dawson A. Feathers, C. Raymond Hall, David H. Johnson, Fletcher H. Palmer, and Ward C. Russell. Drove via Carquinez Bridge, Sacramento, Placerville, S end Lake Tahoe, Glenbrook, Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, to a point about 15 mi. S of Gardnerville, where we slept beside the road. Left our overnight camp, 6 o'clock A.M., and drove via Wellington, eastward along the West Walker River into Mason Valley, thence southward to a point 4 1/2 mi. N E Pine Grove, turned right and drove up a canyon past Pine Grove to campsite as given above. Arrived here about 11:30 A.M., made camp, and I cooked the first meal of the trip. June 28 I set four gopher traps at springs near camp. In the B. M., I made a three-trap setting for a coyote using bacon rind for bait. When I looked at my gopher traps, I found one had been sprung, two un-molested and one gopher was caught. I put up the gopher skin later in the day.
