Feathers Jan. 15, 1934. 500+ ft., Colorado R., 1/4 mi. S. E. Searchlight, Clark Co., Nevada- Lynx rufus. This morning I found a bobcat in a victor no. 1 1/2 trap. I shot it twice with the .410 aux. On shooting it the second time, it leaped the length of the trap chain and jerked free. As it was d very large bobcat, the trap was inadequate to hold the animal. Double spring no. 2 trap should have been used. The trapper also should have a small calibre pistol with which to kill trapped animals. Very few tracks of bobcats have been seen in this locality.
