Two snipe were seen in tule association. One Sayornis sayus and one Hylocichla guttata were seen in the willow-association. I took the car to Needles, had it serviced and purchased groceries. On my return trip I stopped to see Mr. Bugh, relative to the purchase of a beaver. He had not caught one, but thought he might by the next day. Fitch and I drove 15 mi. north to Hiho Spring, to attend to gopher traps set there by Orr and Hatfield. Three gophers had been caught. Seven settings were taken up and re-set in different locations. A pipitrelle was seen flying at 4:15 P.M. I shot it. We returned to camp after dark. Feb. 14, 1934. Fitch and I started at daylight to visit the gopher traps. Along the route, Fitch shot an Ammospermophilus. Only one gopher was taken. Several traps were re-set at new places. After we had returned to camp, I put up the gopher skin.
