There were 111 species recorded by us over the weekend, in what was obviously a peak of migration, 1-2 or more weeks later than normal, based on late-April,early May trips this year. It wasn't just scattered individuals, but numbers of many species. Unforgettable highlight has to be standing in one spot and seeing a dozen or more male Scarlet Tanagers, a few Indigo Buntings and 1 or 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in a few trees close by, with 5 or more STs in one small tree. Later we had 4-5 RbGrbks in one locust tree, along with warbler assortment, & STs. Locusts were a prime attractant on 5/15, and already much defoliation of their leaves noted. Blue-gray Tanager Nest atop almost horiz. 1" branch, 40-45' up in oak tree at Seneca.
