Pied-billed Grebe Red-tailed Hawk Sparrow Hawk Kildeer Kingfisher - 2 by lake Yellow-shafted Flicker - many Blue Jays CYANOCITTA CRISTATA - 1st seen at garbage can. Many others in woods - have varied calls. A "mew" call common. Eastern Crows - several calling as they flew over. Carolina Chickadee PARIS CAROLINENSIS - several in woods brush. Tufted Titmouse PARUS BICOLOR - mellow warble call resounds thru woods and brush. Mockingbirds - common in country and town. Robin - 1 full adult. Male seen. Eastern Bluebirds SIMIA STULS - in weed patch Shrike - grayish, poorly marked. Starlings - 35-40 in fence row and on wires near field. Myrtle Warblers several seen. Pine Warbler DENDROICA PINUS - full-colored at 40 feet in pines in pine-oak woods. Observed for 10 minutes. Heard call, and could check with Peterson's descriptions. Eastern Meadowlark House Sparrow Redwings - red and buff wing patches. Purple Grackles QUISCULUS QUISCULA common Cardinals - have full whistle and light sparrow-like lisp notes too. Field Sparrows SPINELLA PUSILLA - 15 or so in weed patch by road. Slate-colored Juncos JUNCO HYEMALIS = common in woodland brush Song Sparrow - in weeds near brush.
