Water at elev. 588.6 today. April 1 - 596; May 1 - 611; June 1 - 612; July 1 - 607; Aug. 1 - 598. No vegetation between eleva- tions of 612 and 588. Many of blue oaks killed off last, year and more this year. Blue Heron- 3 Common Egret - 4 White Pelican - 7 Ducks ??? - 80 Mallards and Pintail Vulture Calif. Quail - many seen - one covey of young (10) less than 2" high. Kingfisher Rufous Hummingbird - sun-posing on ground in flower bed.at Ballards. Calif. Woodpecker Calif. Jay Plain Titmouse Wrenpit. Slender-billed Nuthatch Calif. Thrasher House Finch - 4 nests at Ballards. Brown Towhee Lark Sparrow Canyon Wrens - very common this summer - 2 pairs had 2 broods this summer. 2139 August 22, 1952, Camp Seco Pond, Calaveras Co.Calif. 1115-1130PDST. Drawdown about 3 1/2 feet. Much algae and scum on pond. Pied-billed Grebe - 3 Mallard - 128 Pintail - 97 Kingfisher Calif.
