White Pelican - 1 Blue Heron - 3 Common Egret - 1 Snowy Egret - 1 Mallard - 1,800-2,000 Green-winged Teal - 35 Pintail - 20 Shoveller - 20 Red-tailed Hawk - 4 Marsh Hawk - 6 Sparrow Hawk - 3 Pheasants Gallinule Coots - 250-300 Avocet - 43 Black Phoebe Marsh Wren Calif. Shrike Redwings, Bicolor and Tricolor Brewer Blackbir October 25, 1951, Mendota Pool, Fresno Co. Calif. 1345-1410PST. Eared Grebe - 2 Pied-billed Grebe - 3 Farallon Cormorant - 2 Blue Heron - 3 Common Egret - 2 Green Heron - 1 Bittern Fulvous Tree Duck - a total of 116 seen, of which 18 were not yet half-grown. They were perched on muddy flat at waters edge and swimming in water. Mixed with shovellers - when flushed, the trees and shovellers separated into their own flocks. The air was full of the trees high-pitched calls.
