Clarke Nutcracker, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Pine Siskin, Junco. September 8 & 9, 1951, Manzanita Lake and vicinity, Lassen Nat. Park, Calif. 6,000'. Pied-billed Grebe - 2 Mallard - 15-20 Red-tailed Hawks - 2 Sharp-shinned Hawk being chased by white-headed woodpecker Duck Hawk - 1 Mountain Quail - covey of 8, mostly immatures. Coots - 20-25, some down young with red faces and bills. Horned Owl - 2 Red-shafted Flickers White-headed Woodpeckers Little Flycatchers Western Flycatchers Stellar Jays - not very many in area. Clarke Nutcrackers common, flying overhead, and calling. Mountain Chickadee - several Red-breasted Nuthatches common Pigmy Nuthatch - common Calif. Creeper - a few Robins - some Hermit Thrushes Ruby-crowned Kinglets Cedar Waxwings - few in one small flock Cassin Vireo in willow thickets at edge of lake.
