Blue Heron - 2 American Egret - 10 Vultures - 4 Red-tailed Hawk - 2 Swainson Hawk - 1 Golden Eagle - 2 feeding on carcass on ground at SE end. Marsh Hawk - 2 Sparrow Hawk - 3 Coots - 12 Killdeer Red-shafted Flickers Black Phoebe Horned Larks Pipits Calif. Shrikes W. Meadowlarks Calif. Bicolor Redwings Brewer Blackbirds Calif. Purple Finches House Finches Savannah Sparrows Grasshopper Sparrows Lark Sparrows common November 10, 1950, Feather R., from Gridley to Oroville, Butte Co. 10-1315 PST Western Grebes - 2 in eddy area. Pied-billed Grebe - 4 swimming in eddy area Hooded Merganser - 4 near E. Biggs Cooper Hawk - 1 Red-tailed Hawk - several Sparrow Hawk - 2 Valley Quail - Pheasants - quite a few near river in irrigated crop areas. Coot - 2 in main river Killdeer Willett - 1 flew down river and lit in shallow water at river's edge. California Gulls Mourning Doves - a few in croplands, and found 15-20 on sunny south exposure among dredged rock piles in mined area near river. Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1 in river-bottom tangle. W. Belted Kingfisher - 1 Flickers very common everywhere, calling and flying around California Woodpecker - a few Nuttall Woodpecker - 1 Black Phoebe - 1 at edge or river Horned Larks California Jays common Yellow-billed Magpies - a few Western Crows - several small groups Plain Titmice San Joaquin Bewick Wrens singing in river bottom tangles. Rock Wrens - several pairs seen in rock piles left after dredging. Some songs. Robins - a few Western Bluebirds Ruby-crowned Kinglets Pipits Augubon Warblers Western Meadowlarks Brewer Blackbirds Green-backed Goldfinches Sacto. Spotted Towhees Calif.
