July 22, 1950, Echo Lake, Eldorado Co. Calif. 1130-1700 PDST. 7400' elev. Rufous Hummingbird Willow Downy Woodpecker - 2 at Scout Camp. Wright's? Flycatcher Wood Pewee Olive-sided Flycatcher Blue-fronted Stellar Jay Clarke Nutcrackers on Flagpole Mtn. ridge Mountain Chickadees (Oregon Chickadees?) along trail E of Echo L. Slender-billed Nuthatch Western Robin Mountain Bluebirds Lutescent Warbler Audubon Warbler MacGillivray's Warbler Pileolated Warbler Western Tanagers Lazuli Bunting in alder growth at edge of creek. Green-tailed Towhees - several seen in chaparral-scattered conifer areas. Oregon Juncos Montane Lincoln Sparrows July 22-23, 1950, West Carson River Canyon, below Sorenson's, Alpine Co. 1830 - 0930 PDST. Sparrow Hawk - calling over camp at 7 a.m. Willow Downy Woodpecker - pair on alder - adults. Northern White-headed Woodpecker - one in top of yellow pine on open S slope. Wood Pewee Western Flycatcher Olive-sided Flycatcher - using same pine top as the white-headed woodpecker. Violet-green swallow - several Blue-fronted Stellar Jay Dipper - along this canyon section of the creek. Rock Wrens Western Robins Townsend's Solitaires - several seen in the evening, feeding on insects along the creek, and also watched one bathing in shallow water at edge of riffle. Yellow Warbler Pileolated Warbler July 23, 1950, Lake Alpine, Alpine Co. C.S.H. 4, 1245-1350 PDST. In Lodgepole camp areas. Wright's Flycatchers? Blue-fronted Stellar Jays Lead-colored ? Bush-tits Red-breasted Nuthatch Western Robin Brewer Blackbirds very common and bold.
