Robins singing and feeding on ground Mountain Bluebirds few Audubon Warblers Hermit Warbler MacGillivray Warbler Golden Pileolated Warbler - many present. watched male carrying dry grass to nest site in crevice in man-made granite stone wall about 8 feet high. Nest located 15" from bottom of wall, where seepage from Echo Lake was leaking out. The wall faced southeast. A thicket of alder, not-yet leafed out, grows near the wall, and it was through this bare thicket that the male brought nest material each time. In 5 minutes he made 4 trips to the nest. The nest was made of grass materials, almost exclusively. Outside shape irregular, but roughly 3" x 4" outside. The inside cup was about 2" in diameter and 2½" deep. It was of the same material as the rest of the nest. Perhaps the depth could be accounted for by the addition of finer material for the cup lining, as nest building neared completion. Alders will's hatched the nest early in the a.m., when they are leafed out. No female seen. Black-headed Grosbeak Green-tailed Towhee - one perched a top red fir (small) on westerly slope of chaparral. Thurber's Oregon Juncos Chipping Sparrows
