Observed one bird fully spread-eagled in the morning sunlight, atop a sycamre. Sparrow Hawk Valley Quail - observed 75 along S. Fk., and up north fork road. 18 to damsite. Pheasant - 5 - 3 crowing. Killdeer Mourning Doves - 94 along S. and N. Forks, 20 to dam. total 114 doves. Pacific Horned Owl California Screek Owl - 2 calling about 11 p.m. Red-shafted Flicker - several California Woodpecker - 40-50/square mile. These birds were still very active at 8:30 p.m., flying, calling, perched on posts, and pales, etc., even though nearly dark.
