Trip afoot up east side of island chain running north from Navy Cabin.
Around south ends of heron rockery and Swan Lake. Þence Thence to
second/Island, second large island southwest of Swan and west of
Tule Lake. Covered pond along west edge of this island. Then went
around north edge of Tule Lake and back to car. Birds most heavily
concentrated on Tule Lake. Looked for nests all the way by walking
shoreline, BEXE both salt grass and desert edge. Found only one
nest with all this looking. None of this covered on weekly census.

Western Grebe - 6
Double-crested Cormorant - 5
Blue Heron - Didn't count, too many as ran onto edge of rockery.
Discovered more to rockery than we thought.
Snowy Egret - at rockery
Night Heron - at rockery
American Egret - at rockery
White-faced glossy Ibis - Many around rockery
BITTERN
Bittern - flushed one.
Mallard - 4 lone males, pair, flock of 5 with 2 male and 3 females.
Total mallards - 11
Baldpate - 1 male
Gadwall - 16 in pairs./ flushed Gadwall hen from nest in solid stand of
Pintail - one pair ungrazed saltgrass. 10 eggs.
Cinnamon teal - 17 pairs and 2 extra males. Total 36
Shoveller - flock of 50 on Tule Lake, 1 pair, lone male. Total 33
Redhead - 62
Ruddy duck - 5
Turkey vulture - / feet nest of 6 eggs in hardstem bulrush. Covered with
Coot - 220 soaking wet bulrush. Embryos in eggs well along.
Killdeer - 3 Opened egg thinking nest was abandoned.
Spotted sandpiper - 1 at Tule Lake/ Also saw 1 on edge of Hunter's
Drain on way out.
Avocet - didn't count them but probably didn't see over 20.

Savannah sparrow -
Song sparrow -
Think I'm wrong here. Should be a
killed grebe nest, as grebe cover nest
with net material.
