Western Grebe - 25 White Pelican - 670 Farallon Cormorant - 25 Blue Heron - Rookery located. Birds on nests. Did not count them. American Egret - 2 flying over Cottonwood Lake Black-crowned Night Heron - 2 Snowy Egret - 14 plus those at rookery which were not counted. Same rookery as [illegible] noted above. Canada Goose - 23 plus 4 downy young. This was in pond north of Foxtail and Long Ponds. Mallard - 645. 3 mallards at the mouth of the river were the only birds seen there. Baldpate - 30 Gadwall - 870 Green-winged Teal - 1500 Cinnamon Teal - 33 Shoveller - 700 Redhead - 300 Scaup - 8 Canvasback - 15 Pintail - 6 Ruddy Duck - 868, mostly in the middle of the Big Water where they could not be seen by ground census. Coot - 3254 Marbled Godwit - 20 Least or Western Sandpiper - 75 Avocets - [illegible] To busy counting ducks Gulls - To busy counting ducks Caspain Tern - To busy counting ducks to write these down. Total waterfowl seen on area including coots 8252 Of these waterfowl approximately 1,000 were on the reservoir, 600 on Foxtail, 100 on 2 ponds north of Foxtail, 200 on ponds between the 2 ponds north of Foxtail and the Nutgrass area, 2500 in Nutgrass Area and part of ponds to west and edge of Big Water, 2500 on Big Water, 450 on Pintail Bay, 422 on westerly of Northern Ponds, 100 in Deep Ponds, 3 in Pelican Island Area, 250 in Indain Lake Area, The Canvasback Gul Club was not fully covered, as so few birds were seen there on the north half that was covered. These amounted to a total of only 60 birds. The Leter Reservoir has 100 coots and 200 unidentified ducks.
