Eared Grebe - 1 Pied-billed Grebe - 7 Blue Heron Canada Geese - 875 - mainly light-breasted Commons Unidentified ducks - 550 Mallards - 40 Baldpates - 300 Pintails - 200 Canvasback - 200 Ring-necked Duck - 8M and 9F Lesser Scaup - 11M and 8F Bufflehead - 50 Red-tailed Hawk Coot - 250 ?Callige? Hummingbird - one of the darked-chins - either Costa or Calliope - feeding on flowering current just south of the main dam, soaring up above the bush, and perch- ing on a nearby buckeye. Seemed quite small. Red-shafted Flicker California Woodpecker- several Willow Downy Woodpecker - 1 Calif. Plain Titmouse - small flocks Pallid Wren*Tit - singing. Robin Western Bluebirds Cedar Waxwings - flock of 17 near dam. and perched in cottonwood. Phainopeplas - 2, each perched in top of blue oaks heavily laden with P. villosum in oak woodland. Crest prominent, and entire body a rich glossy blue-black. Even the red-brown eye was plain. Had to throw rock at it to make it fly. Nearby areas had little, if any mistletoe. Green-backed Goldfinches - small flock Sacto. Spotted Towhees - few Sact. Brown Towhees W. Lark Sparrows - in small flocks in blue-oak woodland Oregon Juncos Golden-crowned Sparrows - observed in tumbled boulder-chaparral area, on NW slope, near the south end of the dam.
