All ducks just north of bridge. Blue Heron - one south side of bridge. Canada Goose - Flock of 100 or more IMXIXIM flew up from field to the west. Ring-necked Duck - 3males and 2 females. Canvasback - 3males and 2 females. Scaup - 21 males and 14females. Ring-necked Pheasant - flushed 7 Violet-Green Swallows Tree Swallows Oregon Chickadees Western Meadowlark House Finch - 10 or more of them around the bridge. Junco - flock of about 5 at bridge. Song Sparrows Kingfisher - Barn owl feathers picked up in barn. MCFADDEN'S SWAMP, 13 miles SOUTH FO CORVALLIS, BENTON CO., Ore. April 2, 1949 10:30 to 11:30. Weather: as above Observers: as above Area covered - McAllisters covered area south of road. Marshall s area north of road by walking up to the north field and down the fence to Muddy Cr. Water level + 5in. Only isolated puddles in north field. No ducks there. Blue Heron - At least 4. One lit in the top of an ash tree along Muddy Cr. Canada Goose - Saw about 400 is all. Two XXXX airplanes dusting Hubbard's field at the southeast corner. These kept any geese in the area stirred. Mallard - KKKLYKXXXXKXXK About 350 mostly at the north end of the main pond. Tom saw about 100 more south of the road. All paired Pintail - About 50, mostly males. Shoveller - About 30 mostly males. Green-winged Teal - 200, north end of main pondl Ring-necked Pheasant - one cock flushed at edge of swamp from carex. Wilson's Snipe - Flushed 60 from area 300 feet square in north field. Yellow-legs - 10 in spike rush at north end of main pond. Rufus Hummingbird - Tom saw this one. Violet-Green Swallows Tree Swallows - Cliff Swallow - Tom heard one and later we saw one flying around the cabin. Crows - heard Robin - Tom saw one. Audubon Warblers - none in the ash east side of swamp. Tom saw two at south end and we heard one singing along Muddy Cr. Western Meadowlark - singing. Red-wings White-crowned Sparrow - one singing.
