Olive-sided Flycatcher - atop a tall fir in the woods. Violet-green Swallow Barn Swallows - common Cliff Swallows - common W. Crows - a few. Winter Wren - singing in fir woods. Bluebirds here and there. Oregon Towhee Song Sparrow Yaquina Head, Agate Beach, 0930-1050 a.m. Common Loon - diving and feeding in deep water off the south side of the point. California Gulls common. Pigeon Guillemot - saw several dozen of them feeding in the swelling sea off the south side of the head, and flying back and forth the to steep rocky walls of the head, up to 50 feet above the water. One bird stayed pretty close to a small ledge which may have been a nest. Two were swimming close to- gether offshore so I threw a rock between them, and both dived immediately, one coming up again immediately only 5 feet away, and took off into the air without somuch as running on the surface - she practically flew out of the water, and the other bird stayed under over a minute, and came up 250-300' away. Little Flycatcher - a few Gad Pewee - Violetgreen Swallows common Barn Swallows abundant W. Crow - a few Russet-backed Thrush - saw and hearda couple. Pine Siskin - one feeding on thistle flowers near a clump of jack pine. Willow Goldfinches - paired and feeding together. White-crowned Sparrows - common and singing and feeding everywhere! New port - 1100-1200 noon. Farallon Cormorants - a few flying by. Horned Larks - calling and feeding on the Newport Airport, which is a grassy prairie. Rough-winged Swallows and one immature one. Barn Swallows common Wren Tit - in dense brush growth near south end of bridge, on west side. Brewer Blackbirds a few. South Beaver Creek and Marsh Area. Rufous Hummingbirds - 2 females seen. Violet-green Swallows common Tule Wren - a few calling, scolding and singing. Robin - some Russet backed Thrush - heard about 7 altogether. Cesar Waxwings - a few heard. Lutescent Warbler - several calling. Feawing Blackbird - just one was seen. Brewer Blackbird - a few Song Sparrow. Seal Rocks - Lincoln Co., 1 mile South: Belted Kingfishers - pair have nest hole on sand bluff whose base is at high-tide mark. It is in the sand at 24 feet above base of the cliff. Hermit Warbler - one male seen on way to Waldport - feeding in Spruce and Hemlock. Summit, Alsea Hiway, near Mary's Peak Road - 8 p.m. Several Nighthawks calling.
