Oregon Chickadee - One very large flock of chickadees near Ramsey in the willows which contained an estimated 30. Got 5 more later. Slender-billed Nuthatch - two with the above. Creeper - Two seen on the same willow at the dump. Winter Wren - three at the dump Seattle Wren - three at the dump. Robin - 20 in the residential area between the dump and [illegible] Willamette. Varied Thrush - Two with the robins. Hermit Thrush - One in some brush not far from Ramsey Lake in the willows. Golden-crowned Kinglet - 30 with the chickadees above. Ruby-crowned Kinglet - Three with the above. Pipit - Six for the day. Audubon Warbler - 14 counted for the day, usually in threes. English Sparrow - 15 in the residential districts. Brewer's Blackbird - About 75 at the dump. Purple Finch - The thickets between the power plant and Ramsey Lake seemed to be alive with purple finches and goldfinches. Total purple finches about 90. House Finch - About 10 at the same location. Pine Siskin - A small flock of 10 at the same location. Goldfinch - We saw several huge flocks of goldfinches at different locations during the day. Total 850. Oregon Towhee - Total of 7, mostly around Ramsey Lake area. Oregon Junco - Total of 140, 100 in large flock near Ramsey L. Golden-crowned Sparrow - Saw 4 near the power plant. Song Sparrow - Total of 40. OREGON STATE COLLEGE CAMPUS, BENTON CO., OREGON January 6, 1949 Band-tailed Pigeon - Saw two in the top of an ornamental conifer by the green-houses.
