October 30, 1948, Bayshore Drive, Richmond-Oak-S.F. Bay Bridge, Alameda Co. Western Grebes 930-945 a.m. Cool, cloudy, very light fog, and calm. Farallon Cormorants - a couple Blue Heron Lesser Scaups American Mergansers Ruddy Ducks - rafts and rafts of them. 1000's of them on the bay just north of the bridge. Killdeer Willets - 250&- common. Black and white patch on folded wing. Limosa fedoa Black-edged white wing in flight. Strong call note. Marbled Godwit/- a new life-lister ! Along main hiway with the willets. Brown- speckled bodies.
