July 28, 1948. Mud Lake, S of Elk Lake, 1130. Pacific Nighthawks - 6 feeding on dragonflies over the south end of the lake. Rough-winged Swallows Juncos. July 29, 1948. Scott Lake - 0800-0915. 4750' elevation. Cooper Hawk Spotted Sandpiper - at Hand Lake Screech Owl - heard one the evening of the 28th. Pacific Nighthawk Furious Hummingbirds com on Flicker Olive-sided Flycatcher Haven Steller Jay Clarke Nutcracker Mountain Chickadees Red-breasted Nuthatches Robins Hermit Thrush singing in evening Mountain Bluebird in meadow near Hand lake. Townsend's Solitaire Warbling Vireo Hermit Warblers Brewer Blackbirds Western Tanager Purple Finch Pine Siskins Chipping Sparrows Juncos July 29, 1948. 12-mile Swamp, south of Corvallis, Benton Co. 1210-1220. Warm, NE 3-4. Blue Herons - 2 Wood Duck female Vultures - several Horned Lark singing in nearby field Barn Swallows - adult or nest - 4 quite large eggs in the same nest. Cliff Swallows - few Redwings one flock of 50-60 in all there were. Savannah Sparrows.
